What is al-shamal stadium?

Al-Shamal Stadium is a football stadium located in the city of Madinat ash Shamal, in the northernmost region of Qatar. Opened in 2018, it has a seating capacity of 45,120 spectators and is one of the eight venues used for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The stadium's design is inspired by the traditional tents used by nomadic peoples in Qatar, with a curved roof that resembles a large marquee. The stadium includes a training pitch, warm-up area and a media centre. The Al-Shamal Stadium will host matches during the group stage of the World Cup, as well as one round of 16 match. After the tournament, the stadium's seating will be reduced to 25,500 and it will become the home stadium of Al-Shamal Sports Club.
